Kunsthalle Osnabrück

Annual theme 2022: Romanticism

Kunsthalle Osnabrück presents exhibition project with the artists Forum demokratische Kultur und zeitgenössische Kunst, Anna Haifisch, Rosie Hastings/Hannah Quinlan, Gabriella Hirst and Irene Melix.

Kunsthalle Osnabrück opens the first part of the exhibition and mediation programme ´´Romanticism´´ on Saturday, 25 June. In times of a pandemic and war in Ukraine, the Kunsthalle asks : What about the confidence and longing for love, identity and belonging ? In the first part of the exhibition, which runs until 16 October, the annual theme ´´Romanticism´´ uses the epoch of art and literature of the same name as a distorting mirror of the current state of society. Hardly any other epoch in Germany and Europe has shaped a collective feeling between awakening, nostalgia and nationalism by aesthetic means.

In the context of the medieval architecture of the Kunsthalle, we will analyse whether the current feeling of global disruption is accompanied by a comeback of the visual and linguistic worlds of Romanticism. The forest? The ruin? The artist in bed? What does that tell us? And how can we use the means of art to resist in favour of a free society?

ERNST-VON-SIEMENS-AUDITORIUM, PINAKOTHEK DER MODERNE

The finissage of the exhibition ´´Schmuck —Jewelry 2012-2022´´ is a thank-you and an appreciation of our donors and the foundations that have accompanied us in the field of modern jewelry, in some cases for decades — the Benno und Therese Dannersche Kunstgewerbestiftung and, more recently, the Paul und Katrin Basiner-Stiftung.

Without the generous support of all of them, important artists and their works would not be represented in the jewelry collections of Die Neue Sammlung.

FEMININE POWER ON CANVAS

Group Exhibition in the Pashmin Art Gallery Hamburg with

ANETT BRENDEL | MIKA | RENE RAUCHALLES

“The future is female” – And so is art! The proportion of women at this year’s Venice Art Biennale has risen to around 80 percent. Pashmin Art exhibits more than 250 female artists every year and supports newcomers to gain a foothold in the art market. In our modern art age, where men dominate the market, a strong female sign should finally be set so that perspectives can change and the popularization of women artists can be increased. Women should not only function as favorite subjects in the visual arts, but should be elevated as activists, pioneers and sources of inspiration.

This exhibition features selected works by three contemporary female artists:

Fantasy of the Middle Ages explores medieval influence on modern imagination

LOS ANGELES – From fairytales to theme parks and ´´Harry Potter´´ to ´´Game of Thrones´´, the Middle Ages have been mythologized, dramatized, and re-envisioned time and again, proving an irresistible point of inspiration for creative reinterpretations. The stories and images of vibrant illuminated manuscripts have informed countless genres – of which fantasy is one of the most prevalent and revealing.

Spanning two galleries and divided into five sections, ´´The Fantasy of the Middle Ages´´ (on view at the Getty Center from June 21 – September 11, 2022) looks closely at medieval inspiration in the storytelling and art of many creators, including the Brothers Grimm, J.R.R. Tolkien, Howard Pyle, Arthur Rackham, and Disney Studio artists.

THE BEARABLE LIGHTNESS OF BEING

Group Exhibition in the Pashmin Art Gallery Hamburg with

GERD REHME | CHRISTINA CZARNOWSKE | BARBARA BIENEMANN

The goddess Maia was the patron saint of fertility and beauty. We owe the name of the beautiful spring month of May to her. With the ethos of the Greek goddess in mind, we have given the May group exhibition at the Pashmin Art Gallery Hamburg the motto “The Tolerable Lightness of Being”, as art is the best diplomat of lightness.

“Wooden Art between Fragility and Durability” by Daniel Fuchs

Solo Exhibition “Wooden Art between Fragility and Durability” by Daniel Fuchs

Daniel Fuchs was born in 1974 in a small town called Greiz, in the south of Thuringia, Germany. Because of its historical buildings, the city is nicknamed the “Pearl of the Vogtland”; it has also two magnificent castles as landmarks. He was raised by his grandmother at a young age. Fortunately, Fuchs was surrounded by art in childhood since his grandmother showed him through “Satiricum” in Greiz’s “Sommer Palace”, a collection of world-famous satirical drawings and paintings. But from an early age he felt oppressed by the tightness and monotony of everyday life in East Germany. When the Berlin Wall fell and the East Germany regime collapsed, he felt relieved, but hopes for an improvement in his personal situation were not yet fulfilled. He followed different jobs but they did not fill him spiritually; he then discovered his fondness for all forms of artisanal and artistic woodworking.

Honoré de Balzac

Valentine’s Day is a festival celebrating love which unites souls and worlds. AS Honoré de Balzac wrote properly “Love is not only a feeling; it is also an art.” Like all arts, inspiration is not enough, it also needs a lot of X factor. In this 2-day exhibition Valentine’s Day was commemorated in exceptional artworks by five international artists from different countries. The works of these artists have been exhibited in many national and international exhibitions by Pashmin Art Consortia.

IN MEMORIAM OF GEORG MÜNCHBACH

The exhibition, curated by Natalja Nouri will be on display at Pashmin Art Gallery for four weeks in memory of the artist Georg Münchbach. Nour Nouri, the director of Pashmin Art Gallery and Falk Münchbach the son of the artist opened the exhibition.

In his long life Georg Münchbach created hundreds of paintings and sculptures. He worked on something that he wanted to work out and that occupied him completely. His works seem dense, they are intense, they close themselves off in a certain way like a myth that is only revealed to some who can initiate the journey.

FRAGILE | FEMININE | FRAGMENTS (04.12.2021 - 10.01.2022)

Vernissage: December 4th, 2021 at 5.30 p.m.

The group exhibition « FRAGILE | FEMININE | FRAGMENTS » represents three artists:  RENO, MONICA DIAMOND AND DIMITRI ATHANASIOU alongside prose recitation by Stella Tsianios and music by Ramón Lazzaroni

Reno joins us from France. For the artist Reno, sculpting means “feeling, learning to see, loving, becoming sensual.” His works of art shine with feminine eroticism, because he manages to delight even with a shaped back. Reno tries to suggest desire, to provoke emotions, to reveal a thrill in order to stimulate or disturb the viewer. “He uses different materials: clay, plaster, stone …and he always searches for the beauty in the movements, the movements of the body, the sensuality of the curves. Eroticism in women is multiplied by the magic of a simple smile, by a lonely hand inviting us to travel far away. Desire stems from a thrill.”

BODY OF THE OBJECT AS/IN ART: EUROPEAN ART IN CHINESE ART SPACE

23.09. - 23.11.2021

The 2nd Chongqing International Modern and Contemporary Art Exhibition

More than 250 works by 37 artists from 14 European countries is exhibited including paintings, sculptures, art installations, etc.

The definition of art in the 20th century has changed the whole concept of art. It is the perspective of the artist and the art viewer which determines how we can call an object a work of art. How do we look at the Body of the Object as/in Art? The number of ways to achieve the mode of perfection in making art is “at least” equal to the imagination of each artist and “most probably” much more than the number of artists in the world.
