A Memorial for Wolfgang Erbens

´´The path of the loner Erbens´´, with these words begins the autobiography of the Viennese painter Wolfgang Erbens. Since the artist did not want to submit to any marketing at the time, the majority of his works are still undiscovered by the art scene.

Erbens´ art ranges from expressionism to surrealism to linear abstract art. He lived and worked in Vienna, but many of his works were created on his study trips through the provinces and abroad. Thus, there are works with motifs in Salzburg, France, Italy, Morocco or the Caribbean. For his work, Wolfgang Erbens received the ´´Körner Prize´´ in 1957, the ´´Silver Rome Medal´´ in 1958 and the ´´Silver Cross of Honor of the City of Vienna´´ in 1989.

Manifesto of fragility

The 16th edition of the Lyon Biennale positions fragility at the heart of a generative form of resistance that is emboldened by the past, responsive to the present, and primed for the future. It imagines a world where vulnerability is actively engaged as a foundation for empowerment, rather than shunned as a sign of weakness. Word, image, sound, and movement culminate in communities that come together to draft a manifesto for a world that is blamelessly fragile.

Manifesto of fragility is a reminder of the cycles of history and the continuous ebb and flow of prosperity and decline. It is a sobering invitation for us to ponder the precariousness of our human condition, from the brittleness of our own bodies, to the vulnerability of the entire planet and everything in between. In acknowledging the undeniable fleetness of life in all its forms, we can allow ourselves the possibility of harnessing fragility’s emancipatory power as a way towards a new form of inclusivity, one that is not based on difference, but rather on the only truly universal quality that binds us all: the inevitability of our frail humanity, and the incredible promise that this entails.

Kunsthalle Osnabrück

Annual theme 2022: Romanticism

Kunsthalle Osnabrück presents exhibition project with the artists Forum demokratische Kultur und zeitgenössische Kunst, Anna Haifisch, Rosie Hastings/Hannah Quinlan, Gabriella Hirst and Irene Melix.

Kunsthalle Osnabrück opens the first part of the exhibition and mediation programme ´´Romanticism´´ on Saturday, 25 June. In times of a pandemic and war in Ukraine, the Kunsthalle asks : What about the confidence and longing for love, identity and belonging ? In the first part of the exhibition, which runs until 16 October, the annual theme ´´Romanticism´´ uses the epoch of art and literature of the same name as a distorting mirror of the current state of society. Hardly any other epoch in Germany and Europe has shaped a collective feeling between awakening, nostalgia and nationalism by aesthetic means.

In the context of the medieval architecture of the Kunsthalle, we will analyse whether the current feeling of global disruption is accompanied by a comeback of the visual and linguistic worlds of Romanticism. The forest? The ruin? The artist in bed? What does that tell us? And how can we use the means of art to resist in favour of a free society?

The finissage of the exhibition ´´Schmuck —Jewelry 2012-2022´´ is a thank-you and an appreciation of our donors and the foundations that have accompanied us in the field of modern jewelry, in some cases for decades — the Benno und Therese Dannersche Kunstgewerbestiftung and, more recently, the Paul und Katrin Basiner-Stiftung.

Without the generous support of all of them, important artists and their works would not be represented in the jewelry collections of Die Neue Sammlung.

FEMININE POWER ON CANVAS

Group Exhibition in the Pashmin Art Gallery Hamburg with

ANETT BRENDEL | MIKA | RENE RAUCHALLES

“The future is female” – And so is art! The proportion of women at this year’s Venice Art Biennale has risen to around 80 percent. Pashmin Art exhibits more than 250 female artists every year and supports newcomers to gain a foothold in the art market. In our modern art age, where men dominate the market, a strong female sign should finally be set so that perspectives can change and the popularization of women artists can be increased. Women should not only function as favorite subjects in the visual arts, but should be elevated as activists, pioneers and sources of inspiration.

This exhibition features selected works by three contemporary female artists:

Group Exhibition in the Pashmin Art Gallery Hamburg with

GERD REHME | CHRISTINA CZARNOWSKE | BARBARA BIENEMANN

The goddess Maia was the patron saint of fertility and beauty. We owe the name of the beautiful spring month of May to her. With the ethos of the Greek goddess in mind, we have given the May group exhibition at the Pashmin Art Gallery Hamburg the motto “The Tolerable Lightness of Being”, as art is the best diplomat of lightness.

“Wooden Art between Fragility and Durability” by Daniel Fuchs

Solo Exhibition “Wooden Art between Fragility and Durability” by Daniel Fuchs

Daniel Fuchs was born in 1974 in a small town called Greiz, in the south of Thuringia, Germany. Because of its historical buildings, the city is nicknamed the “Pearl of the Vogtland”; it has also two magnificent castles as landmarks. He was raised by his grandmother at a young age. Fortunately, Fuchs was surrounded by art in childhood since his grandmother showed him through “Satiricum” in Greiz’s “Sommer Palace”, a collection of world-famous satirical drawings and paintings. But from an early age he felt oppressed by the tightness and monotony of everyday life in East Germany. When the Berlin Wall fell and the East Germany regime collapsed, he felt relieved, but hopes for an improvement in his personal situation were not yet fulfilled. He followed different jobs but they did not fill him spiritually; he then discovered his fondness for all forms of artisanal and artistic woodworking.

50 Years of Diplomatic Relationship between China and Europe July 08 - September 08, 2022

Pashmin Art Consortia will exhibit fifty European artists at Hong Art Museum Chongqing from July 08 to September 08, 2022.

While the world has been shaken by a lot of turbulence and strife at present, the idea of humanitas is preserved on the cultural level. This is because people do not want war, they want all cultures to live peacefully with each other. Apparently only art can preserve peace and artists succeed again and again with the means of their imagination to represent different life worlds and to let arise curiosity for the different and not turning away.

BODY OF THE OBJECT AS/IN ART: EUROPEAN ART IN CHINESE ART SPACE

23.09. - 23.11.2021

The 2nd Chongqing International Modern and Contemporary Art Exhibition

More than 250 works by 37 artists from 14 European countries is exhibited including paintings, sculptures, art installations, etc.

The definition of art in the 20th century has changed the whole concept of art. It is the perspective of the artist and the art viewer which determines how we can call an object a work of art. How do we look at the Body of the Object as/in Art? The number of ways to achieve the mode of perfection in making art is “at least” equal to the imagination of each artist and “most probably” much more than the number of artists in the world.
